Claudette Not Done Yet...Remembering Bernie

Tropical Depression Claudette is heading into South Carolina on a track that will bring her back out into the waters of the Atlantic and allow redevelopment into a Tropical Storm as she moves over the warm Gulf Stream.   NHC forecasts just that as she'll race off the East Coast towards Newfoundland.

Normally, with any storm moving away from us, we should see improving weather.  But a tail of moisture extends back from Claudette into the northern Gulf and some of those storms drenched our coastline this morning.

Those storms have produced gusty southerly winds and the cloud cover is helping keep temps. less hot.  Note how 90+ shows up where it's sunny.

The wider view of the surface map has two cold fronts moving southward over the Plains and we could see a front get near us later this week.  No, we won't get into the cooler air, but it might get us drier for the end of the week.

Of course, when we see fewer clouds and less rainfall, that results in hotter temperatures.  Since our "normal" highs are 90+ for the next 3 months, get use to it Gang.  Finally...

My Dad (Bernie) died in April 2001 making this my 20th Father's Day without Pops.  He would light up any room he entered and his smile was contagious.  On his obituary, it read "Mr. Personality".  I'm proud to say 'the apple didn't fall too far from the tree".  Thanks Pop for all you gave me (more height & hair would have been welcomed!) and know your memory lives on through your children & grandchildren.   I hope those of you who still have your Fathers living, at least gave him a phone call/FaceTime, or better yet, took him out for brunch/dinner?   Always remember, Mom & Dad gave us LIFE!    Oh yea, I saw what the GFS is putting in the western Gulf in 2 weeks.  Stay tuned!
