After More Rain, Heat Wave Is Coming For Weekend...

I finally have something to talk about that isn't tied into why more rain is coming.  More rain is coming the next 2-3 days, but then we will begin to dry out and heat up for the last 10 days of July.  I can show you why by looking at the upper air flow at 500 mb (18,000 feet) for the coming week.

The top two graphics depict the upper flow for tomorrow and Wednesday showing a trough over the SE that will enhance our daily summer storms.  Don't be surprised to see rain totals of 2-4"+ before the drying trend arrives on Thursday.  The bottom two graphics show the trough lifting out and replaced by a large upper high that will build over us by mid next week.

You can see the axis of the Atlantic Ridge has retreated off the East coast allowing a frontal boundary to sag over the Deep South.   The seven day shows the stormy pattern for Tuesday & Wednesday, but look what happens for the weekend into next week.  We are likely to see mid to upper 90s, especially for next week.   Now we are not the only ones who haven't had a hot summer.

Atlanta has only topped 90 5 times and Dallas has yet to reach 100.  The top chart shows the number of 100+ days in Dallas during their hottest Summers.  Even if they would top 100 for the rest of July (not gonna happen) and all of August, they wouldn't crack the top ten list.  Yet the reason we all FEEL so hot even though we haven't been can be seen in the high dew points.   75=80 DPs make it feel very uncomfortable to be outside.  My two friends (Troylynn & Tonyatta) over at the Sleep Number Store want the rain to end even if it means hotter temps.

As my grandson (Ethan) shows us, there are other ways to stay cool during the summer heat!

So keep the rain gear handy for the next two days and then get ready for real summer heat for the weekend into next week.

The Tropics remain quiet and models show nothing for the next 10-14 days.  That is great news for the Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo.

It looks like all this rain will be gone, especially for Friday & Saturday, and winds will be light so I expect some big fish are likely to be caught this weekend.   I'll be the MC again for the Awards Ceremony on Saturday night and hope to be on the leaderboard.  Remember, for only $45 registration fee, you could win a chance for a fully equipped 21' Bay boat & trailer.  C'mon down and enjoy great fishing, food & fun with nightly live entertainment.  Stay tuned!
