Note, there is nothing there yet, and there may never be anything. An old frontal boundary lingers from Texas to the Carolinas, but it has become less defined during the past 24 hours. IF something were to form, it's on the other side of Florida and will not be our problem. In fact, the weather for the Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo, which begins at daybreak on Thursday, should be mostly rain free. I hope some of you have registered even though you can't fish this weekend. Remember, by registering ($45) you give yourself the opportunity to win a fully equipped 21' Bay Boat & Trailer in a drawing during the Awards ceremony on Saturday night.
So the weather will cooperate this weekend as our drying trend has begun. The Tropics are quiet from the Gulf through the Caribbean into the Atlantic. I like boring in the Tropics.
None of the models are developing anything for the next 10-14 days. Locally, it looked ugly this morning with some early showers, but then the sun broke through and only a few pop up storms bubbled up.
Rain coverage today was only 20-30% this morning with less than 10% this afternoon. As an upper high builds over us tomorrow into the weekend, shower chances decrease as temperatures increase.
Many more locations will soar into the 90s, which is perfectly normal for July.
The Atlantic Ridge/Bermuda High has not built back westward, but an upper high will be the reason for lower rain chances. A cold front has brought cooler and drier air to the Great Lakes & East coast, but fronts rarely make it to us at this time of the year. The real heat wave over the NW has been squashed and what they need now is more rain. Some states are getting into their "Monsoon season", but many more remain bone dry.
One way to cool off is to head on over to the Audubon Zoo's new waterpark. Ethan, his Mom & Dad along with BeBe were in the lazy river enjoying relief from the heat. The little fella is off to his other grandparents tomorrow and I'm enjoying how he's becoming a real person every day. Ready to teach him golf & fishing! Enjoy your weekend, especially if you're down fishing the Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo. Stay tuned!
