The Saharan dust layer(SAL) coming off of Africa is keeping the Atlantic quiet. There is a cluster of storms that has fired off in the central Caribbean, but it shows no sign of rotating and models do nothing with it. An upper low is over the western Gulf and that should drift slowly to the west as a huge upper heat ridge over most of the nation.
Heat advisories cover the central Plains from Canada down into Louisiana. The top graphic is the upper air flow valid for Saturday so we will stay in the mid to upper 90s into the weekend. But look at the bottom graphic which is valid for next Monday. A deep trough is forecasted over the eastern states and that might even bring a cold front down into the deep South. That should increase our clouds & rain chances.
But until then we must deal with this excessive daily heat. The last 2 weeks of July into the first 2 weeks of August are historically our hottest time of the year.
Not only is it hot, but look at the 70+ dew points almost up to Minneapolis! Misery loves company!
The only relief the next 3-4 days will be these spotty PM storms, which today are farther to our north. Stay hydrated and use common sense if you have to be outside. No whining Gang. Stay tuned!

As long as don't have any hurricane threats, we can deal with the heat.....!
I never whine about the heat and humidity. We live in the South for God's sake. I much rather the heat and the stupidity than the cold any day!
