No News Is Good News? I Think?

Really nothing has changed with our two weak, disorganized tropical systems tonight.  NHC has added a third area north of Bermuda for possible development.  Great!

I've circled those areas, but compare them to major hurricane Linda in the Pacific.  Linda has a distinct eye and a core structure while the others don't.  Let's begin with Fred.

He still remains an open wave, but MHC points out on satellite and radar loops the banding features that are starting to develop.  The key point is...where is the center?  Until we have a center it's foolish to place any confidence in the forecast track, but here it is.

Yep, it's shifted back slightly to the right (east), but who knows?  Until we have that center, the possible future track lacks confidence.  Perhaps that's why NHC hasn't issued any watches/warnings yet?  On to Grace.

Her cloud structure looks better than Fred's, but as she crossed over the islands this evening it was hard to find much wind and the recon plane struggled to locate a center.  Sound familiar?  OK, here's her future track.

Yep, heading right at us, but I won't get too concerned until either of these systems become more than clusters of rain storms.    We'll see what a couple more model runs do.  Hopefully they will clear up all this confusion.  Stay tuned!
