Tropical Troubles For Gulf next Week?

When I last posted, we were very hot and mostly dry.  So I went fishing (yea, in this heat? Duh) knowing we had no major weather to talk about.  But that may change later this week, and especially next week as we end August.

I've circled 4 areas to watch, 3 of which NHC has highlighted in their tropical outlook.  The 2 farther out in the Atlantic are not a concern, however, the two closer in might grab our attention if you believe in the models.

The system east of Florida is not expected to develop, however, the wave over the southern Caribbean is,  The middle grapgic is the GFS valid for next Tuesday morning while the bottom is the Euro valid for Monday evening.  I'm not one to go crazy on 1) something that is not there yet and 2) something that MIGHT happen 7 days away.  We have plenty of time to watch, but right now it appears whatever forms should stay to our south and west....we hope!

The surface weather map does have a cold front that will cool the northern plains, but there are no signs that cooling relief is coming our way during the next 7-10 days.    This is not record heat this summer. rather it's typical August heat.

We did not see a repeat of yesterday's T-Storms as they stayed to our west.   Look at the neat shadows that show up in the satellite view (arrows) as the sun sets in the west.

The slight cooling relief we get this week is due to the higher rain chances as the upper high/ridge shifts away. All focus will be on what MIGHT develop down in the Caribbean.  After all, as we approach September, this is historically the most active weeks of the Hurricane season.  Stay tuned!

P.S.  Our 2 day fish total (3 guys) were 50 keeper trout ( many throw backs), 1 redfish, 1 sheepshead & one flounder.

The loop current eddy south of the ms river is scary- if a storm comes our way it could blow up like 2005
