Mother Nature Can Be Beautiful From Far Away...

We all remember the scary satellite and radar views of Cat. 4 (Probably 5) Hurricane Ida as she approached the Louisiana coast.  It didn't look pretty and it was very frightening (I called her a MONSTER) because we knew her strength was about to slam us.  If a storm is far away, it's a different story, especially if the disturbance won't harm anyone.  Look at todays' satellite views of almost Cat. 5 Hurricane Sam.

The symmetry of Sam is awesome with a classic "donut hole".  The visible view shows the "stadium effect" of the setting sun to the west.   Fortunately Sam looks like a threat only to Bermuda later this week.

More storms are expected to form coming off of Africa , but it's getting late in the season for these systems to make there way all the way to the U.S.  Again, no model has any tropical threat coming into the Gulf for the next 7-10 days.

We've been enjoying a remarkable stretch of sunny & dry weather that has allowed our recovery efforts to continue.  We still have out dew points in the 50s (dry air), but that will change as southerly winds return.  Speaking of recovery efforts...

I showed you the big water oak that fell and flattened my back fence and uprooted my backyard.  It took nearly a month to get a tree service  out to chop up the tree and the fence guys to repair my fence so Bailey couldn't get out.

Now I await the landscaping guys to level the yard, repair the patio & lighting system and resod the yard.  I faired so much better than those to my west who still have months before life gets closer to "normal".

You can see the clouds off our coast that will be coming back northward for this week.  We'll notice a different feel this week after enjoying the past 5 days.   We're done with the oppressive heat of August, but with no front coming, this week will feel very summer-like.  Stay tuned!
