It's Only A matter Of time, Cold is Building Up North...

Now that we're well beyond the Hurricane threat, we start to focus on the first freeze of the season, which normally occurs in late November to early December depending on which side of the Lake you're living.  I always watch what is happening up over Alaska & northern Canada.  Typically, if they're really cold, we need to pay attention 10-14 days later for a cold outbreak coming into the U.S.

For the first time this season, below zero temps are showing up in Canada & Alaska.  The top graphic is from David's 5 PM program while the others are from the web.

We will see several surges of cold air coming during the next 5-7 days.  The first one arrives on Thursday with the stronger push coming over the weekend.

The main upper air trough is coming over the Rockies and will dip over the SE later this weekend.  The West Coast needs the rain, but most of today's showers are not widespread.

We started with sunshine this morning, but clouds increased this afternoon.  however, radars find no rain with those clouds.

The 7 day has the first front coming late Thursday with the second surge of cold air coming on Saturday.  If you're dressed for it, this weekend looks terrific.  Finally...

The past 2 days I was in a boat with Captains Hylton Petit & Johnny Lewis out of Shell Beach..  Our two day totals were 93 keeper trout, 13 redfish, 6 black drum, 1 flounder, 1 sheepshead and several big catfish.  It's amazing the variety of fish you can catch less than an hour from downtown NOLA.  Fishing should be terrific for the next 6-8 weeks before water temps get too cold.   If you have never tried fishing, you're missing out on why we're called Sportsmen's Paradise.  Stay tuned!
