So we had a cold front plow through last night and imagine my feelings waking up to more tree damage this morning.
Fortunately, it was only a large branch and not the whole tree. After two hours of hacking and wracking, I cleaned up the mess and my yard is back whole. Just reminds me that tall trees near houses are not a good combination. Yes they do provide shade during the summer heat, but as they age, they weaken and bad things start happening during wind storms, especially hurricanes. During the next few months before our next hurricane season, you might get in touch with a professional tree service to either trim or remove trees near your house.
The cold front that caused my tree damage is now well down over the Gulf with 40s & 50s replacing our near 80 warmth. Note the much lower dew points in the 30s & 40s compared to the 70+ ahead of the front.
Clearing skies tried to reach us, but the low cloud deck lingered over our part of the state. Much of the nation is now seasonally cold with Florida being the exception. The Arctic Chill remains over Canada and can't come southward until the upper pattern changes.
There is a disturbance coming in the southern stream that already is triggering some showers over south Texas. That will spread a cloud shield over us for Monday with most of the showers staying along the coast. It looks like another gray, ugly day into Tuesday before sunshine and warmer temperatures return for the rest of Christmas week. Need I say way too warm?!!!
Finally, I frame grabbed a graphic David used last week. MSY had .47" last night with our yearly total now at 85.90" making us # 2 as the all time wettest year. I also noticed EVERYBODY is picking the Saints to lose tonight. I'm just thinking our guys do have pride and I'm going Saints 24 Tampa 23 in a wild defensive brawl. Who Dat! Stay tuned!
