Huge Nor'Easter Could Bring Us Weekend Freeze...

As mentioned yesterday, this will be a chilly week, certainly well below our long term average/normal.  Today's rain system is leaving after giving us a nice half inch + soaking and the next 2 days should see a return to sunny skies with comfy cool temps.   Morning lows on the North Shore will again be below freezing with the South Shore staying in the 35-40 range.  However, I'm watching 2 things that might bring back another hard freeze to the North Shore this weekend and a light freeze south of Lake P.

Note the 35-40+ below zero building over northern Canada.  The next graphic is valid for midday on Saturday with a major Nor'Easter just off of Boston.  IF that proves to be reality, we'll need to watch for how much of the Arctic air rotates down south over us.  The FOX 8 seven day is NOT indicating that the coming weekend freeze will be worse than this past weekend's freeze.  I'm just concerned when I see super cold form up north and a deep trough develop over the eastern states.  We have some time to watch what scenario becomes reality.

What jumps out on the severn day is the huge warm up coming for NEXT week.  We stay cold in the short term as the upper trough lingers over the Eastern states.  But look at the last graphic that is valid for next Wednesday.  The eastern trough flips back to the west with a weak ridge over the SE.  That is why we will warm up NEXT week.

For now we deal with more below normal temperatures with the core of the cold staying to our north.

Skies are clearing and we're likely to see widespread frost in the morning.   I'm leaving my plants outside tonight and if I have to cut back on any damage, so be it.   Can't keep luging them in & out.

I know many of you want to see snow.  The top two pics are from my son (Ryan) who lives in Missoula, MT with the bottom photo from my son (Rob) in Longmont, CO.  As the Special Man would say..."Let 'em have it!".  You want to see snow?  Head to the Northeast this weekend.  Finally...

Most of you received the news on your phone.  Coach Sean Payton has officially retired.   My reaction is one of sadness for us because we know how good a coach he is.  Yet I understand since I walked away from my contract  with a year to go. (Note, I was NOT making 9 million/year!!!)  It's nice to leave before you're told to leave.  Thank you Coach for making us WINNERS!   But I remember what my 1st boss  (GM Bob Olsen) told me after I had to replace a legend (Nash Roberts).  "You can not replace a legend.  You must create a new one."  Let's hope whoever become our next coach is another "legend".  Good luck Sean.  You earned our respect & deserve whatever greatness the future brings to you.  Stay tuned!
