It's amazing how much of the nation is below freezing this afternoon with only the SE feeling Spring-like. While we're 80+, north Louisiana is in the 30s. The stalled frontal boundary is just west of BTR.
We should have one more warm day before the chill arrives for this weekend. However, the core of the cold will remain to our north and the Arctic freeze is NOT coming to us. The upper disturbance near Las Vegas will kick out to the NE over the next two days triggering another round of Winter weather for many.
The good news for us is the timing is setting up that most parades will roll dry with only Friday being the main question mark. The major "super Krewes" all look to be OK with Mardi Gras looking borderline perfect.
Don't take this 7 day to the new sports betting and book the house. Lots could still change.
The cold blast has plunged into south Texas where Laredo is nearly 30 degrees colder than yesterday. As the western upper low lifts out tonight, the stalled front to our west will lift back farther to the north tomorrow before sagging back southward for Friday.
Look at how sharp the cloud line is across south Louisiana. In the sunshine it's 80+ while under the cloud cover it's in the 30s & 40s. The final views are from my youngest son's (Justin) house in OKC where the morning low was 11 with wind chills down to 10 below! Stay warm & stay tuned!
