Arctic Air Begins To Moderate, Still Cooler Weekend Coming...

Temperatures across most of the nation remain below freezing, but the intensity of the cold has begun to lessen, especially up over Canada.  Gone are the super cold 30-40 below zero readings as they have retreated into Hudson Bay.

About 70% of the country is covered in clouds as a weak upper system triggers winter weather along the Arctic boundary.

The top satellite view shows the upper feature that was over the SW yesterday now over the northern Plains with another disturbance coming into Seattle.  That system might trigger some rain here over the weekend.  Timing will be the issue.

Clearly it will be much cooler than the past several days.  Lundi Gras & Mardi Gras look almost perfect with a warm up returning.

Our dew points are still near 70 and coupled with temps around 80, the spring feeling covered SE LA/MS.
The shift in the wind direction will signal the beginning of the cool down.

Since we're still in February, we shouldn't expect Winter to be over.  Fortunately, this next cold spell will not be a frigid one.  Stay tuned!
