If we were in January, media folks would be calling this deep upper low the "Polar Vortex". It is rather large and deep resulting in temps. way below average/normal for early April. Note how clear it is over the West while the East is cloudy.
Fortunately for us, the real chill remains to our north with bright sunshine and low humidity making for comfy warm afternoon highs. Models lift the upper low to the NE so we'll see a warming trend beginning on Saturday.
The coldest morning should be on Saturday where the far North Shore (Kentwood, Picayune, McComb, Columbia) could see some upper 30s.
The chill to our north is caused partly by extensive cloud cover. I expect a chillier start here, but bright sunshine should make it very nice by 10-11 AM.
This is a very dry air mass over us and that's why it feels so nice...IF you're dressed for it.
Once the sun sets, you'll need sweaters & jackets as the brisk winds will add to the chill. FYI...Facebook for some reason has blocked me from posting on my FOX 8 page. You can always go to www.bobbreck.com. They can't block that. Stay tuned!
