Stalled Upper Low Making For Hostile Gulf Environment...

As I've mentioned several times this summer, the "TUTT Lows" may be the reason our hurricane season has been less active than the past few years.  We have one such low parked right over us with the wet side to our east and the drier side to our west.   It is creating lots of fast upper wind shear ensuring no tropical formation in the Gulf.

Of course the above normal clouds and showers bring us cooling relief.

As this upper low lifts out to the east over the weekend, it'll leave behind a NW upper flow that will bring a weak cool front here for next week.  Finally it is getting cooler up north.

This will not be a strong front, but it will be noticeable, mainly due to the lower dew points/humidity.

That should result in lower night time temperatures, especially on the North Shore and away from Lake P.

Today is the anniversary of Hurricane Betsy (1965) and we still have many weeks to go before the danger is over.  However, no model is developing anything near us for the next 7-10 days and the TUTT Lows are our friends.  NHC is watching several areas, but they are far out in the Atlantic.

The remains of Hurricane Kay are bringing welcomed rains to southern California & Arizona.  As always, some spots receive too much too quickly and flooding has been a problem.

Farther to the north, clear skies reveal many wild fires continue to rage.  They are hoping their rainy season arrives early.  Stay tuned!
