Louisiana Road Trip, Julia nears Hurricane Force...

It's hard to believe that I've lived in Louisiana for 44 years and never visited Avery Island.  We all know hot sauce is in our gumbos, on our fried foods and just about in our blood.  But I never knew the process of how it was made, until now.  I have renewed respect for Tabasco sauce as I just thought they picked the peppers, crushed them and whalla, instant hot sauce.   Not so fast hot breath!

The process takes over three years and involves hundreds of barrels allowing the sauce to reach just the right flavor.   The tour takes you through the plant, but I also enjoyed the drive through the "jungle gardens" afterwards.    Looking for an easy road trip?  Head down Highway 90 to New Iberia & pass a good time!

As for the Tropics, I think we can sing..."turn out the lights, the party is over"...FOR US.  There are 2 swirls out in the Atlantic, but NHC doesn't seemed concerned.  The big deal is Tropical Storm Julia heading towards Nicaragua.    NHC brings her to hurricane force before she reaches the coast.  Our prayers need to be directed to that country as Julia is then predicted to head westward into the Pacific.

The cold front pushed through us over night and is now well down over the Gulf.  The next several days look delightful with comfy cool nights and mild to warm days.

Look at the 30-40 degree dew points to our north.  that is really dry air!

As the high pressure shifts to the east, some return flow could send enough moisture to trigger a few showers for Wednesday-Friday,  We've been very dry for 6 weeks so some rain would be welcomed.  Enjoy Fall in NOLA and go Saints!  Who Dat!  Stay tuned!
