October Living Up To best Weather Month...

Historically, the driest month is October and this year we got an early start since the last 3 weeks of September were also mostly dry.  Fronts have begun coming, but they mostly just bring us cooler & drier air.  That is what will happen with the next 2 fronts coming this week.

Since the upper pattern has a trough along the East coast and out over the Rockies, these fronts will not have any really cold air.  Rather, they lower the humidity which allows the night lows to get comfy cool.

Dew points have crept back above 60 here, but you can see the drier air to our west & north.  The Tropics have become active way out in the Atlantic, but we have reached the time of the year where those storms don't bother us.

The reason our tropical threats diminish as we get deeper into October can be traced to the increase in the upper westerly winds over the Gulf.

So if Invest 91 L does develop as it moves westward across the Caribbean, any northward movement into the Gulf will meet those westerly winds and the system would be forced to turn away from us.  Computer models keep 91 L moving straight westward into Central America.  Our great October weather should continue for another 7-10 days.  Finally...

Our fishing trip was fun except the number of trout & reds remain hard to find.  Perhaps the best things about fishing are the sunsets & rises.  The top 3 were taken yesterday evening in Lake Borgne with the bottom pic being today's sunrise at Shell Beach.  Stay tuned!
