Santa Bob Wishing For Warmer Nights...

Weatherwise, it was a spectacular day with brilliant sunshine & temps chilly enough to make it feel like Christmas.  Santa Bob received many nice gifts and enjoyed a wonderful brunch at Jack Rose in the Pontchartrain Hotel.  We reached at least 46 degrees so this was not one of our coldest Christmas Days.

One of the reason the cold air is slow to move out is the extensive snow cover that really is not too far to our north. You can see it on satellite views where the rivers & lakes stand out.

Another fast moving upper disturbance will bring more snow, but this system will be farther to the north.

As the surface high moves to the east, winds will shift back off the Gulf and we'll see much warmer temperatures by Tuesday.  Note the warm up over the southwest.

The dew points are very low giving us a good feel to the air if you're dressed for it.  That will change by Wednesday and later this week, dense fog will become an issue.

We go from using our furnaces to keep us warm to using air conditioning in a matter of 3-4 days.  Finally...

The top picture is from 3 pm and Miami was 49 as most of Florida stayed in the 40s.  That's really cold for them.  the bottom was my bird bath this morning,  Nuff said.  Stay tuned!
