Weak Front Coming Will Stall, Stronger Front Arrives Wednesday...

Our warm start to December will continue for the next couple of days until a strong cold front blows thru early on Wednesday.   There is a weak upper disturbance moving over West Texas that is triggering lots of showers & T-Storms along a frontal boundary that will slowly sag towards us by late Sunday.  We could see some showers later tonight towards daybreak into Sunday morning with the front staggering , but stalling somewhere just to our south.

Sunday will not be as pretty as today and the clouds should keep us several degrees cooler than today's 79.  The best chances for rain will be in the morning ahead of this weak front.

As Hannah Gard showed this morning, the better rain chances arrive late Tuesday into Wednesday with the stronger front.  There might be a severe threat in the warm air sector, but it should be mainly north of Lake P.

If you're looking for sunshine tomorrow, you'll need to get on an airplane!   You can see the extensive cloud clover along the frontal boundary and we'll have to wait until that 2nd front to arrive on Wednesday for skies to clear.

Note the cool down will be noticeable, but not extreme.  Next weekend will be much colder as an upper disturbance brings clouds back over the colder surface air.  Next Saturday's highs may struggle to get out of the 40s.  Burr!

A couple of things o watch this week.  The pool of super cold (35-40 below) air remains up in northern Canada.  I see no signs of that Polar Vortex coming southward that would bring a freeze threat to us.  Also, the storm pounding California is the system that should weaken as it approaches us on Wednesday.  Finally...

It may certainly not feel like Christmas, it sure is looking more like Christmas in the plant world.  We've seen all the poinsettias around town, but check out my neighbor's (Bernard Baudin) Christmas cactus.  It may not feel like it now , but it will later next week.  Stay tuned!
