Feels Like Spring, But Winter Not Far Away...

The coldest air mass since our Christmas freeze is making misery for a good part of the nation.  Normally, I'd be worried about that air spreading down to us as we're still in the heart of Winter.  But the upper air pattern will not allow that to happen as SW upper winds will continue for another 3 days.

Look at how close we are to the chill.  North Louisiana is in the lower 40s while it's 80+ south of Lake Pontchartrain.

In the short term, the next three mornings will be very mild & muggy with dense fog advisories.  An ice storm will cripple travel from Texas to the Northeast so expect delays and possible road closures.

The disturbance coming out of California will finally drive a cold front through us late Thursday.
That will bring back sweater & coat weather for Friday & the weekend.  Until then, it's foggy & warm.

Finally, all this warm weather has my flowers blooming.  Note the Camellia bush behind Bailey.

Even my grapefruit tree is blossoming!  Way too soon since we can still get freezes well into late February & early March.  Stay tuned!
