It's The Timing Stupid...

Year round, we have so many festivals/fairs happening across SE LA/MS that are dependent on the weather for their success.  This weekend is no different, except the 2 Jazz Fest weekends have the greatest participation of them all.   As I hinted yesterday, timing will be everything and only Friday appears to have near zero rain chances with Sunday right behind.  Why the uncertainty?  Blame it on the upper air flow.

The top views have the current upper pattern with a low coming out of the Rockies.  Note how the trough lingers back over the Baja.  The first system will bring us Thursday's storms with the Baja disturbance bringing Saturday's storm threat.  Note by Sunday, the westerly upper flow will sweep away any rain making for a great finish to the weekend.

SPC indicates we could have a level 2 severe risk tomorrow as a line of storms shoots out ahead of the cold front.  It appears from computer models that 7=11 AM will be the key times to pay attention and have your FOX 8 Weather App ready to alert you in case warnings are issued.

We are back in the warm air sector with plenty of low level moisture (dew points 65-70) available.

In the short term, tonight will be mostly dry with a stray shower & warm temperatures.  Friday through Sunday will depend on the timing of the 2 waves of storms.  IF we are lucky, storms hold off until after dark on Saturday and leave before daybreak on Sunday.

Sunday PM through Tuesday look to be comfy cool once again.  Pay attention for Thursday morning as Zack Fradella wakes you up at 4 AM on FOX 8.  Stay tuned!
