These Guys/Gals Are Good, Severe Storms Erupt

Yesterday SPC issued a level 4 risk for severe storms breaking out Tuesday PM into Wednesday as Hannah Gard showed us this morning.. Almost on cue, a quiet morning has turned into a nasty afternoon for some.  The trigger for the severe storms is a deep upper low over the Rockies.  Storms are firing between the split in the jet streams that enhance upper lift.

So far there is only one Tornado Watch, but more will be coming.

The bottom graphic indicates how the severe threat shifts eastward for Wednesday, Note how the southern end lags back to our west.

So the question for us is when/if the front will reach us?  Where it stalls will dictate where the heavy rainfall sets up.  The WPC 7 day rainfall map suggests the boundary will stay to our west with the heaviest rain totals (4-6"+) over east Texas.

You can see south of the frontal boundary it's in the 80s while north of it temps are in the 20s. Check out these views from my Colorado son (Rob) in Longmont.

Wednesday should be another mostly dry day before the end of the week (front gets close) turns soggy.

Time to start taking the Winter gear to the dry cleaners before putting away till next Fall!  Stay tuned!
