April Showers Bring May Flowers

Since there is nothing happening Weather-wise, let me begin showing you my flowers.   My yard is on fire with color as I'm a "pot head".  Translation, I like to grow stuff in pots as I have over a dozen along with many in ground plants.  Let me show you.

The official data for April at MSY goes down a a dry month with only 3+".  But since I have pots that require water almost every other day, I really don't care if it rains.  That's more for my yard/lawn.  As Lee Zurik often says, "but there's more!"

Perhaps you remember I started to grow a tomato plant this year.  Bubba is almost 3 feet tall with blossoms.

And remember my beautiful yellow flowering bush in the front of my house that got whacked back by the December freeze?   It's growing back!

Why are the plants going nuts?   Is it the warmer air?  Yeah, but it was warm back in February & March.  Plants need light to grow & the increasing length of day is what really triggers their growth.  I also put out my humming bird feeder after not doing it since Ida.

So what did I see this morning?   My first humming bird, such a treat.  When you get old, it doesn't take much to make you happy!

As I mentioned, the weather will stay quiet for most of this week as we have lows off both coasts with an upper ridge in between.   In meteorology, this pattern is often called "an Omega block" and usually lasts for 3-4 days or longer.  That tells me we'll stay dry until the pattern changes.

The clouds streaming towards us from the west are high, thin clouds that will make for hazy sunshine at times.  Look at how chilly it is over the Great Lakes!

The 7 day has some rain chances in for Friday-Sunday, but I'm thinking less than 20% is more appropriate with the upper ridge.   You will notice a return of humidity later this week.  I'm going out to look at my flowers.  Stay tuned!
