How about my yard? Well, I've covered most, but not all of my plants.
Since my He-Shed is packed with potted plants, I've decided to leave the mums, petunias & snap dragons uncovered since they're inexpensive to replace. So let's review what is coming.
Can you find the front? Duh! lake Charles is 30 while Morgan City is 51! It will be a slap in the face when you walk outside in the morning. So now we focus on 'will it snow?"
If you're on the North Shore, chances are you're going to get icy later tonight. I'm telling my teenager to give me the car keys. NO ONE should be out on the roads after 8 PM unless it's an emergency. Even on the South Shore after midnight we could get some icy overpasses. Radar views have the frozen stuff just west of Baton Rouge.
Bottom Line, get to the store NOW. I want everyone to be "hunkered down" after 8 PM. We are not Chicago. Most of us can't drive when the roads are just wet. Make them icy & need I explain? So back to the "Polar Vortex".
The main vortex is up over Hudson Bay with lobes rotating around it. one such is coming out of Colorado and that impulse will drive the Arctic boundary through us later tonight. Another lobe will rotate into the Great Lakes by Friday bringing the freeze threat back for this weekend.
I grabbed the snow cover maps off of Bruce's 4 PM programs. With most of Texas now covered with some ice & snow, the air has little time to moderate and that is why a hard freeze is expected here tomorrow night.
There is no need to run the water tonight unless you're on the far North Shore.
You can see there will be a brief warm up on Thursday before we go back into the freezer for Friday night & Saturday. For you snow geeks, it's tonight or never to see a few flakes. But then again, we have a lot of Winter left. Stay tuned!
