Clouds Will Save Us Tonight. Core Of Cold Staying North & East

I mentioned yesterday that I moved my tropical plants into my He-Shed.  The cold front blew through this morning on schedule and temps have sunk into the 40s this PM.  Normally I'd be a little worried about morning lows, but not for Sunday morning as clouds are lingering across all of Louisiana.  Remember, clouds act as a blanket keeping us from cooling down at night.

Most of the rain has left us, but the winds have not making it feel like the upper 30s outsides.  Monday morning might be colder IF the clouds leave us and the winds decrease.  The core of the cold will quickly exit as the upper trough over the Great Lakes is not digging to the south.

This certainly is an Arctic airmass, but it is not record breaking cold air.  As the upper low over Mexico shifts across the Gulf tomorrow, our skies should clear after some morning filtered sunshine.

Once we get through this weekend cooldown, next week will return to Spring-like conditions. Finally, for you snow lovers...

Yesterday's fast moving clipper left several bands of snow from the northern Plains into the Ohio Valley.  How can I tell it's snow & not clouds?  Look for the river valleys.  It's amazing how they stay out on satellite views.  Bundle up, stay warm & enjoy your weekend.  Stay tuned!
