Let It Snow, Let It Snow...

Yesterday I showed you the satellite views from space of the snow cover across the mountains out west.  i went on several web cams to find how that looks from the ground.  And to think some folks wake up to these type of views every day!

So we know there has been above normal/average snowfall for most of the mountains out west, but some folks out east across the northern plains have seen little snow...until yesterday & today.  These are scenes from Minneapolis after overnight snowfalls.

The radar views show a band of heavy snow (4-8") stretching from northern Illinois across Michigan into New York.  Who says Winter is over?!!!  Until the upper pattern changes, expect more snowstorms up north and stormy weather down south.

You can see how the dividing line goes west to east with freezing temps across the northern states while the South has warmed into the 70s & 80s+.  We had a rainy start this morning before skies cleared and left us with a lovely afternoon.  The upper low will move across Louisiana tonight bringing us a cloud cover with skies clearing early on Saturday.

Storms have been over south Florida this afternoon with another round coming tonight.  Notice how cool the temps are under the cloud cover.

Locally, it was mostly sunny south of Lake P. while the clouds were thicken farther to the north.  That had temps significantly cooler farther to the north.

But as one system leaves giving us a dry weekend, another storm off the West Coast will arrive early next week.  It could bring another severe weather outbreak ahead of our next cold front.

The SPC has a level 2 risk for Oklahoma & Kansas on Sunday and that is likely to shift eastward for Monday. Our highest rain chances will be early Tuesday morning.

With brisk northern winds on Saturday, the FOX 8 low 70s high may be generous.  But this weekend looks to be a winner.  Get out and enjoy it because you know what's coming in another 4-6 weeks.  Stay tuned!
