Art For Life, Wildfires From Space, Spreading Dust

As many of you know, my wife Brenda is an artist who is enjoying a renewed interest in a hobby from her youth.  Here is Brenda's most recent painting from her new collection, which I will be sharing with you during the coming weeks, especially when weather goes quiet.  You can see some of Brenda's work on Instagram @BRECKBRENDA. Contact Brenda at brendabreck@gmail.com.

                                                "Lady Day" 30" x 30"

Yesterday I mentioned wildfires from space.  Here's what they look like. The top is yesterday over California while the bottom is from today showing the extensive smoke plume coming out of Canada.

The improvement in satellite technology over the past 50 years is stunning.  And I'm just showing you weather related stuff.  Here's more on the African Dust.

It's one thing to show a computer graphic, but when you can actually see the dust on satellite pictures, that's amazing.  The dust is expected to keep things quiet for awhile, but the African wave train maybe cooking again towards the end of this month.

The only chance for any activity in the next 7 days will be off the Carolina coasts.

Right now, all of the clouds are developing because of a split in the upper flow and NOT from anything forming at the surface.  As the upper low over the Bahamas drifts farther to the west, it may interact with the next trough diving down over the central Plains.  IF something were to form, it's not our problem.  Locally, it's another day of storms firing off along boundaries (yellow dashes).

You can see which locations are getting cooling showers.  There is some drier air (lower dew points) as close as north Louisiana, but that feel is NOT coming here.

Today's clouds & showers have kept us cooler(less hot) except where there is no rain (BTR) it's mid 90s.  Don't expect any major changes for the next 10-12 weeks.

And to those of you who believe in the NHC computer models beyond 3 days, review Beryl's track 5 days out while she was in the central Caribbean.

Her  final track ended up outside the cone of error at 5 days.  Finally, look at the Tropics worldwide.

There is nothing over the Atlantic, the eastern Pacific, but most surprising, NOTHING over the western pacific & Indian Ocean.  Why is that surprising in this age of Global Warming?  That is where the highest Oceanic Heat Content (OHC) resides. But there is nothing there!

And another thing that bothers me.  The bottom graphic is the OHC across the Caribbean.  Beryl moved right over it, yet weakened.  I'm telling you, hurricane activity is more than just water temperatures.  FYI, CSU increased there total named storms for this year from 23 to 25.  Yikes!  What do they know?  Stay tuned!
