70 How Sweet It is, Last Of Snow Gone, Weak Front Monday

Hey it was "fun" for a day or two, but let's remember why we live here.  If you want snow, move to the north.  I enjoy our mild Winters with brief cooldowns.  And this last cool down was a doosie. Aside from one day, it's been 3 weeks below normal with the last 7 way below.

With near 70 this afternoon, the last of the snow was almost gone.  So nice to see grass again, even if it's very brown.   As I mentioned yesterday, I am seeing NOTHING in the forecast models that bring back the Arctic cold in the next 10-14 days.  We do have a frontal boundary that will stagger through for Monday, but an upper disturbance over southern California will drift eastward during the week stalling the front near us.

The SW flow ahead of it will not allow any real cold air for us.  In fact, with it taking a more southern track, we'll have to watch out for a severe weather outbreak across the South.  Here's the forecast maps beginning with today.

The bottom is valid for Friday midday placing eastern Texas, AR,LA,& MS in the warm sector & severe threat.   NOAA's 6-10 day outlook follows that thinking.

I agree with the southern states being way above normal, but I don't know where they're getting the Minnesota warmth.  I think the northern states and Great Lakes stay cold while we warm up.

There is cold air nearby, but it's not the Arctic air of last week.  Also, a surge of Gulf moisture is pooled along the Texas Coast.  A large area of clouds and showers has developed with some rumbles of thunder.

Those showers will be with us for the morning drive.

We are not done with getting cold air, but each day the sun angle becomes higher, the length of daylight longer and the threat for hard freezes & snow lessen.  I'm fine with that.  Now let's talk about the real important stuff.   We need a head coach!!! Stay tuned!
