There are days when you don't feel like getting out of bed. Today was one of those days with skies remaining cloudy and rain more on than off. Our dreary weather is more about upper air disturbances than any surface features. There is a weak surface low south of our coast with the warm air sector staying well offshore. Computer models were once again right on with the timing of the rain shield, and that is why today's parades were postponed.
Once these upper disturbances pass by, we'll see a much warmer weather pattern for Tuesday-Thursday. Gone is the dip out of Canada as the freeze line has retreated to the Canadian border.
With no freeze threat coming this week, I've uncovered my in ground plants and moved all my potted plants back out side. Does that mean we're done with the cold? No way Gang. We're still in February and I suspect we'll see another frost/light freeze threat during the first couple of weeks of March.
Today's rains will pull away over night and most of this week looks warmer and dry. A weak front could bring a few showers after dark on Thursday. The big super krewes roll next weekend and it appears temperatures will be milder with any rain threats coming late Monday into Fat Tuesday. Will things change? Duh! Stay tuned!
