Upper Low Lingers 2 More Days, But Drier Air Limits Showers

The morning began dreary with low clouds, but this afternoon broke out into abundant sunshine making us all feel better.  The stalled upper low is near NE Louisiana drifting slowly to the SW.  It'll be close enough to allow for some daytime heating storms on Mother's Day, but look at how much dry air has been entrained into its circulation.

IF any storms do fire tomorrow, the cold core upper low will allow for some possible hail-producing storms. Here are the GFS upper air model predictions beginning with Sunday, followed by Monday & Tuesday

As the low lifts away, look for temperatures to heat up later next week.

There are still is lots of clouds and showers along the northern end of the surface low. Temps are in the 50s & 60s while farther north in sunshine it's in the mid 80s.

We'll bounce back next week once the upper low departs.  In fact, we could see our first 90.  Finally,

Tomorrow is Mother's Day, a day when we honor those women who give us life.  It's nearly 12 years since I lost my Mother, and I miss her every day.  I was blessed to have her for 65 years of my life.  Paula has been gone for over 23 years, and I know my sons miss her dearly.  Those of you fortunate to have your Mommas still around, make sure you honor them.  Flowers, cards, hugs & kisses are all they want. Someday you won't have that opportunity anymore.  Stay tuned!
