As we transition from Spring to Summer, the weather during May is often boring. The biggest news becomes the turning on of our dreaded summer heat & humidity. Typically, the average date for our first 90 is May 18th, so we are about there. It's been a long time since we last touched that hated mark, but get ready as the upper low pulls away and an upper ridge moves in.
NWS has us touching 90 as soon as Thursday ending the quite pleasant temps of the first two weeks of May. Once this upper low pulls out, we won't have much to talk about the rest of this week.
You can see how most of the rain is north and east of the upper low.
You can clearly see how the higher sun angle & longer days are heating up the nation. The Dakotas are in the 90s while under the low down south it's in the 60s & 70s.
As the upper ridge builds over us, expect rain chances to drop to near zero for the rest of this week.
Until we get into Hurricane Season, my posting will be sporadic for the next several weeks. I'm dealing with a serious home crisis that is exacerbated by my nearing 78 years old. Pray for me as I try not to harden my heart. The Little Fella is not Mr. Sunshine right now. Stay tuned!

Praying for you against bitterness, and for having a clear head! I grew up with you on TV (we're in picayune, dad worked at michoud) and as an adult have followed your blogs, now I'm a grandparent and still take your weather advice over others because of your clear headedness. Hang in there, you are needed and appreciated by many.
I'm surely praying for you Bob
