Tropics Active Elsewhere, Gulf Remains Unsettled, Cool Fronts Coming

The main weather story nationwide is the early Fall-Like fronts coming down out of Canada.  But, as always, we begin with the Tropics as this is a Hurricane blog at this time of the year.   Tropical Storm Fernand is moving well east of Bermuda while a strong wave approaches the Windward & Leeward Islands. A recon plane found no low level circulation and NHC has lowered the probability for development.

None of the models develop Invest 99 L, but it's something we'll follow since it's moving into the Caribbean.  Of more concern is the persistent clusters of storms over the central Gulf.

I've look at all of the storms closely and can't find any signs of a spin up.  In addition, there appears to be a fairly strong flow from the SW as a deep trough develops of the eastern states.  That should limit any development this week, but I don't like to see T-Storms over the Gulf in August & September.

If you didn't know, I've started a video & audio podcast 2 weeks ago.  It allows me to go into detail explaining my WVUE Bob Breck Face Book graphics.  The cost is $2/month (7 cents a day) and you can sign up at bobbreck.com. When a storm gets into the Gulf and you have to make decisions to stay or leave, I'll help you make those decisions.  So easy to sign up and the price is right!  Now let's look at the coolness over the Great Lakes.

These are temps at 4 PM Gang.  Talk about needing sweaters & jackets!  Nah, that kind of chill won't reach us, but the drier air/lower humidity will.

The bottom graphic shows how the lower dew points are coming.

It's a rare day in August when there are no T-Storms around us.  But no rain means we're still very hot.

As drier air filters in, the next 4-5+ days look mostly dry to me.  The only thing to watch is the disturbed area over the Gulf.  Right now, we have nothing to worry about.  Stay tuned!
