Two storms east of the U.S. Coastline are pulling farther away lessening any impacts (high surf, tides) along the beaches. Humberto continues to weaken as he skirts around Bermuda, while Imelda is now a Cat. One Hurricane projected to track right over Bermuda. Satellite views show the twin storms with Humberto on the right.
Humberto is being blown apart while Imelda continues to keep getting better organized. Here are the latest NHC tracks.
Bermuda is under a hurricane watch as Imelda's winds are now 85 mph. But what about that swirl back down over the Gulf?
It's still there but it's drifting southward with no storms around it. Models are now shifting concern to the northern Gulf for this weekend.
Imelda will continue to race away as a weak upper low over Texas lifts to the NE away from us. The first pulse of clouds/moisture wrapping around Imelda is across Georgia down into the NE Gulf. WPC keeps that moisture along our coast through Thursday, but models hint a weak low may try to form near us by Sunday.
Look, IF something were to form that close to the coast on Sunday, it wouldn't be very strong. IF it became a Tropical Depression, it could make for a rainy Sunday. Again, there is nothing there yet and NHC is talking about it so we need not worry. In the short term, we want to know when is it going to cool down? The answer? Not in the next 7-10 days. Here's why.
The upper flow is not allowing any of the cold air in Alaska & northern Canada to come southward. It is getting cold up there with Alaska in the teen & 20s.
So until there is a upper pattern shift, it's going to stay warm.
When the 80s are still up in the Dakotas, you know it'll be a while before we cool down.
We topped 90 again today and should on Wednesday. The end of the week will be less hot only because there might be higher rain chances returning IF models are correct. I'm still stunned on the lack of any tropical activity in the Gulf or Caribbean during the heart of hurricane season. I feel good about NOT seeing any evacuation type storm this October, but we'll wait until after the 20th to say we are all clear. It's still not too late to sign up for the new Bob Breck Podcast that will be around all through the winter & next Spring.
The cost is only $2/month and the guests will be worth the price. Try it. Finally...found these on FB
Here's why I miss the north during Fall. The colors! Stay tuned!
