Norcross Podcast Tommorrow, Tropics Active, Front Coming Thursday

Why I Started My Podcast — And Why It Matters

Back in April, after being abandoned and struggling mentally, I failed a cognitive test. My sons noticed something wasn’t right — and suggested we start a podcast to help keep my brain active. Think of it like what happened with Glen Campbell: even during his battle with dementia, he could still remember lyrics once he started playing music.

Well, this podcast has worked for me. Talking about hurricanes, interviewing amazing guests — it’s become something I look forward to, and something that’s genuinely helped my mind and my heart.

But here’s the honest part: I’m a little disappointed that out of over 140,000 followers on Facebook, fewer than 1,000 have subscribed — especially since it’s just 7 cents a day. I know money’s tight, and not every podcast is for everyone, but if you’ve ever gotten value from my posts, I’d love your support.

And I promise — I’ve got some incredible guests coming up. Next up: FOX Weather’s Hurricane Specialist Bryan Norcross.

This podcast is more than content. It’s a lifeline. Thanks to everyone who’s already supported it. I truly appreciate you.

Following Bryan will be Jim Cantore, but you must subscribe ($2/month) at bobbreck.com to hear them.  I have appreciated your support over the years and really need you now.  Someday I can share why.  For now, it's back to an active global tropical activity beginning in the Atlantic where Gabrielle is still a Cat. 4 racing out towards Europe.

Gabrielle is the northern most circle with an upper low east of the Bahamas and two tropical waves approaching the Islands.  The eastern most is called Invest 93 L with the western one Invest 94 L

NHC is giving both systems high chances to develop so we could have 2 more named storms (Humberto, Imelda) later this week.  Models are all over the place with these, but none bring them into the Gulf and keep them east of the U.S. coastline.  There is that stubborn trough across the Yucatan northeastward over Florida, but no model forms anything with it.

So we start looking for cold fronts coming and we have one for Thursday.  Don't run for those sweaters and jackets as the real cold air remains bottled up over Alaska.  Note the SW flow streaking across Canada.  here's how the GFS model handles the upper air for the next three days.

You can see how the upper trough swings down over us and that should bring us a front that should bring welcomed rain.  Right now we are the driest September, but that should change.

That cold pocket over Colorado has it snowing above 10,000 feet!  We do have some nearby showers today.

We again topped 90 before the showers arrived.

Let's hope we get some real soakers tomorrow & Thursday.  Finally a major typhoon is skirting south of Hong Kong.

So far, the Atlantic Basin has had two major Hurricanes (Erin, Gabrielle) but neither has made any landfall.  Will out luck continue?  Stay tuned!  And sign up for my podcast!
