After several weeks of no activity worldwide, the Tropics have come to life with 2 storms reaching Cat. 4 strength. Hurricane Gabrielle just reached 140 mph as it brushes by Bermuda. It has a classic doughnut hole look on the color view.
The WPAC has two Typhoons with Ragusa being the stronger one at 145 mph heading south of Hong Kong. Fortunately, all these storms have yet to affect land areas. Back over the Atlantic Basin, several systems are being highlighted by NHC.
Several models bring these systems much closer to the U.S. than Gabrielle. Both should stay east of Florida. The GFS is at it again putting a storm in the Gulf south of us. 2 weeks from now.
Should be buy into that solution? At two weeks out, no way. However, models have been trending farther westward with east system in the next 10 days. We'll pay attention, but not get concerned until we have something to track. It's a reminder, you need to subscribe to the Bob Breck Podcast to get an expanded explanation when threats get into the Gulf. My next podcast is Wednesday with Hurricane Expert Bryan Norcross.
But you won't be able to hear or see Bryan's life story, his history with CNN, TWC & FOX Weather unless you subscribe at bobbreck.com. For $2/month, such a deal! Coming up after Bryan will be Jim Cantore of TWC. Get on board to hear the legends of hurricane forecasting tell their stories. For now, the Gulf remains a hostile environment. Gabrielle is in the upper right of this view.
As it brushes Bermuda, the late afternoon "stadium affect " shows up with the eye in shadows.
Her track has already turned out to sea much like Erin several weeks ago. So in the short term, we have no tropical issues for the Gulf.
Even though we have a weak coast upper trough, there is no cold air around. It's still blocked up over Alaska where most of the state is in the 20s & 30s. It's coming Gang. There will be a weak front drive through on Thursday, but the cool down will be slight.
We need rain and this weak front might bring some.
Because we topped 90 again today, several heavy storms popped up.
Those few storms have cooled down many locations with increase shower chances coming with the weak Thursday front.
The drier air will also allow the North Shore to drop into the 60s behind the front for morning lows. As Fall officially arrived this PM, we want it to start to feel like it! Podcast coming up tonight. Stay tuned!
