NHC named a system way, way out in the Atlantic, "Sub-Tropical Storm Karen" that lasted a day and affected no one. Today, we have a developing low-pressure system along the East Coast that is hammering the Carolinas & could impact the major cities of the NE tomorrow & Monday, yet nothing from NHC. Don't understand their thinking. Plus, Tropical Storm Jerry is no more despite models forecasting him to be a Cat. 2 just 2 days ago. Now, there is yet another system off of Africa that NHC believes will become our next named storm (Lorenzo). Let's look at the satellite views.
What's left of Jerry still has a cluster of storms, but recon aircraft could no longer find a closed surface circulation. The storm along the East coast is more of a sub-tropical system since it doesn't have the warm core of a tropical system.
This unnamed system is obviously having more impacts than Karen & I'd have no problem if NHC named it Sub-tropical Lorenzo. Doubt that will happen. For us, nothing but dry air is making for a great weekend.
Look at those dew points! Many of us away from Lake P. will drop into the 50s for the next several mornings.
With such nice weather, it's killing me that I can't play golf or fish. My hip surgery (Oct. 23) won't come soon enough! Finally, I've scheduled the Fat Lady to sing Monday night despite seeing the A.I.run.
We have more cold fronts coming so anything that might form should be steered to the east, well south of the northern Gulf. Get outside and soak in the good feel air. I'm thinking of getting the former voice of the Saints, Jim Henderson, on an upcoming podcast. Go sign up as more great guests are coming. Stay tuned!
