Freeze Possible North Shore, Quick Rebound Coming Mid Week.

Since our tropical Threats have long ended, This blog & Podcasts will focus on local weather and local FOX 8 Personalities, both past & present. Coming up this Thursday will be a half hour with Bruce Katz.  To see & hear Bruce, you must subscribe to my podcast at bobbreck.com.  The costs is only $2/month and I believe you'll enjoy hearing about the private lives of these public figures.  For today, the well advertised Arctic Blast is coming for Sunday PM into Tuesday morning.  Here's what's driving it.

Note the 20s & 30s across the northern Plains.  That's the air coming our way. There is a broad upper low over the eastern states with multiple centers.  The one driving the current chill over the northern Plains is near Omaha.  That will quickly sag over the Southeast with the cold front arriving during the daylight hours on Sunday.

At the moment, there is no rain with the front.  However, a few showers may form on Sunday as it reaches us.  You won't really notice the colder air until later in the day and especially after dark.  These are the projected lows for Monday & Tuesday mornings that Hannah Gard showed on her morning program

Based on what I'm seeing, I am doing NOTHING to protect my plants as the South Shore should stay above 40+.  Why?  Lake Pontchartrain's water temp. is still around 70 degrees.  However, if you live north of the Lake, you'll get into the 30s (perhaps upper 20s Tues) and will want to protect your tropical plants.   This will be a quick 2 day in and out for the cold as we'll quickly rebound back to 70+ midweek.

Have the heavy coats ready, but remember we are still in November and the cold won't linger.  Enjoy your Sunday and stay tuned!
