When I retired from daily broadcasting nearly 10 years ago, computer technology gave us "numerical guidance" 4 times a day for various city locations. Fast forward 10 years, and local weathercasters can now show hour-by-hour temperature forecasts 48-72 hours ahead of time. I remember Zack showing us the forecast model on Friday for Monday morning's low temperature of 33 at MSY and 20s on the North Shore. Here are this morning's low temps.
I'd say that was one terrific forecast, giving all of us plenty of lead time to prepare for the freeze. Tomorrow morning will be nearly as cold, so keep your freeze precautions in effect.
I've read several comments asking what I was going to do to protect my plants. Those of you who subscribe to my podcast already know, as we did a Podcast several weeks ago on protecting your house & yard. For $2/month, it's a no-brainer. Just sign up at bobbreck.com. Coming this week is the Podcast we did at the Corvette Museum in Kentucky. It's not always about the weather, although most future Podcasts will be about people you know from the past & present. Obviously, during hurricane season, the podcast will focus on the Tropics. So go join us. Consider it's the cost of one Powerball ticket a month. For today, it's about the warm-up coming. the deep upper trough over the Great Lakes has lifted out.
