Special Tropical Update...

As you know, I am not an alarmist...however, I feel I must let you know that there is a new area of low pressure that has formed just east of West Palm Beach, Florida. Most computer models bring whatever forms across Florida into the Gulf and right towards Louisiana. Here's my thinking. 1) There is a well defined UPPER low just to the west of this weak SURFACE circulation that should provide enough shear for this system not to quickly develop. 2) If it does develop, it should do so slowly as the upper environment is quite hostile and likely to stay that way for the next 2-3 days. 3) I don't like to speculate on something that hasn't totally formed yet...why scare folks when this system may be nothing more than a strong tropical wave moving well south of the Louisiana coast over the weekend?

If you have weekend plans,(beach,LSU game, Saints) you just need to pay attention as the Gulf waters are still very warm and development could be sudden, like Humberto last week. I'll have another update later tonight.
