California Burning...

It's sad to watch so many homes going up in flames in Southern California. Experts are comparing it to the fires back in 2003. 2003? That's right, only 4 years ago ...except then the fires were even worse. In watching the different networks covering the fire, in listening to all the government officials(Senators/Congressmen/The President), no where did I hear ANYONE say "why do people live there?" No one said..."Why should we rebuild there when we know it'll just happen again?" I ask that because after Katrina, that was what they were saying about where we live. What's the difference? Simply put...electoral votes. California is much more important to either party than Louisiana. That doesn't make it right, but at least you now know why.

A "cut off" upper low is parked over northern Mississippi keeping us under some wrap around clouds and unusually chilly temperatures. This morning's low of 47 in Kenner missed tying the record by only one degree. We should see one more day of clouds & Sun and cool temperatures before it turns sunny & warmer for Friday & Saturday. No significant rainfall is expected thru the weekend.

Exactly Bob,
It is all about electoral votes because many more homes were destroyed by Katrina and more people affected than in the fires. I feel for those people, I know what it is like to loose everything. However, they were passing out sun tan lotion to the evacuees in the stadium in California and people in Katrina couldn't get a bottle of water and were on the roof for days.
The electoral votes should be eliminated and have a popular vote.. a vote by the people, for the people, for the good of all the people.
