Historic Anniversary Tonight...

46 years ago, Hurricane Hattie, a Cat 4 or 5 at landfall slammed into British Honduras (Now Belize) killing many thousands . What made this storm historic was after it moved inland and crossed the mountains of central America, it re-emerged and strengthened back into a Tropical Storm called Simone. But that's not all...it again moved inland and re-emerged over the southern Gulf and again strengthened back to a Tropical Storm named Olga. One system with 3 different names. That will not happen again as the Hurricane Center will not rename a system just because it crosses into another ocean.

Tropical Storm Noel (Knoll) is finally drifting to the north away from Cuba. He is becoming stronger and could briefly reach a Cat. 1 Hurricane as he heads through the Bahamas tomorrow. We have another weak front coming our way and that's why we don't worry about tropical systems anymore. The real cold air is growing way up in Canada, but it shows no signs of coming down to us during the next 10 days. In fact, it appears we'll enjoy another beautiful Fall weekend.
