Well, it appears the surface low (Low pressure in the lowest 1-2,000' of the atmosphere) off our coast is not going to develop as it moves to the west south of Lafayette. The upper low (10-18,000' above the surface) is still there this afternoon providing a hostle environment for any develop. However, we are on the wet side of the surface low and it is bringing in several bands/waves of rainfall wrapping around its circulation. Since we remain over a foot below average/normal in our yearly rainfall, this is welcomed rain for most of us. As both lows pull away from us, our weekend should see fewer showers & more sunshine resulting in temperatures being almost hot.
Looking long range into next week, a stonger cold front will arrive on Wednesday followed by an even stronger front by late next weekend. That means the Fat Lady is climbing the steps of the stage and should be able to start singing goodbye to this hurricane season for us!
Since I celebrate 6 decades on this planet tomorrow, I will be taking several days off. I may not be able to update my blog if I don't have computer access. It appears a strong high will protect us from any tropical development that happens until the front arrives next week. Relax and enjoy your weekend!
