After several foggy mornings, a strong cold front will sweep off the Gulf Coast overnight and bring back sweater and jacket weather...at least for 3 days. The core of the cold will stay well to our north and with bright sunshine on Friday and Saturday, it will be great Fall weather as long as you're dressed for it. The weekend will quickly warm back up into the 70s with maybe a few showers late on Sunday.
Some much needed rain fell across the drought stricken Southeast tonight. Nashville received 2-3 inches, Birmingham 1"+, Chattanooga 1-2". Atlanta is just getting into it at 11 PM EST. They will need many more rain storms like tonight before they can refill their lakes and rivers.
