As many of you know, I take the 2 weeks around Christmas for vacation. I will return on-air on January 2, 2008. Looking back on 2007, I see very little that went wrong for my family. My sons all remain employed and family member's health is basically good. Which brings me to these thoughts....several of our friends and their families have experienced serious health issues these past few months...including loss of loved ones. It's making Christmas 2007 a very difficult time. Rather than asking for good things to happen in your lives for 2008, Why not take a moment to pray for your friends and family who have not been as fortunate as you? Better yet, why not take the time to be with or help out those friends in need? A very dear friend of ours told us the worst thing in her life right now is being so lonely. Is it too much to ask you to call that person and ask them out to dinner, perhaps a movie or just to go have some coffee? Loneliness is a cancer to the body. At this time of the year, we need to remember/ to help friends & family members in need. The Peace in your life often comes from within your life. Let's spread the good cheer.
I'll spend some time with my 83 year old Mom later this week. I never thought she would be around since she has serious health issues. I will treasure being with her once again as I never know if it's my last visit with her. Being so far from home restricts my seeing her but once or twice a year. Those of you who live close to parents...visit them often. You don't know how lucky you are. Have a great holiday season and until next year...HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

bob,
you are so right, it is about giving of oneself to someone less fortunate. it is the greatest gift of all.
Bob I hope you have a wonderful Xmas and New Year. I have done exactly what you wrote. I had always think about people that are not as lucky as I am and talke to them and help. We will see you on TV in the next two weeks.
Bob,
It is so wonderful to have such a compassionate and caring soul as yours. You are so much more than a weatherman. The simple phrase of "How's the weather?" always meant more to me than someone asking how the temperature was, or if it was raining. The question opened up dialogue and true conversation. You have done that with your viewers. You talk to us, not at us. You really care about our well being.
Thank you for being there all year-round for us and enjoy a very special Christmas with your Family!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Bob! You are such a wonderful person and you bring light to this city with your upbeat and honest forecasts. I am glad that you will be able to spend time with your mother this year. Your friends and family, as well as, you will be in my prayers this holiday season. Till next year... Brandi in Hammond, La
Bob, here in Denham springs the weather channel says we will be in the 20's on Tues and Wed. The weather here is a few degrees different than in N.O. but is there going to be a freeze this week in N. O. where we will have to protect our pipes?
I just heard on the local news that Neil Frank has agreed with you that the Hurricane Center should NOT have named all the recent short-lived storms that they have been naming, thereby raising the number of hurricanes we have per year. I know of no other local meteorologist who would have stuck their neck out and said this. Keep up the good work of keeping us informed, Bob. Thank you!
Bob,
Hope you had a very wonderful holiday with the family.
Looking outside on this Wed. evening 1/2, I see the barometric pressure at 30.75. Good Lord, can you remember the last time it was that high? What a strong arctic high!
Here's the best for all in 2008...especially friendship and companionship!
