Another Weekend Freeze Coming?

Hard to believe with temperatures in the 70s, but I want to caution everyone that more freezing weather may be coming in another 5 days. Historically, the coldest week of the year is Jan. 11-17th and that could ring true IF the big dip in the jet stream currently over the west coast shifts our way. Long range guidance rearranges the upper trough to over the Great lakes and east coast by Sunday. That will bring down the Arctic cold over Canada back to the Gulf Coast. I'll give you an update later in the week.

Every since NOAA came out with their Winter outlook in December (calling for below normal precipation from California thru Texas to Georgia), storm after storm has drenched/buried the West Coast and also put a dent into the drought over the SE. Does that say something about the folly of long range predictions including trying to predict climate change decades into the future? Once again it's overselling the SCIENCE of meteorology. It's a complex, inexact science. We should not pass laws trying to change something we can't stop. We should make incentives to encourage conservation. More on that later too.
