More Late Week Storms?

After last Saturday's early morning storms and heavy rains, the last thing we need to hear is more storms may be coming. It's several days away, but another deep upper level disturbance will approach us on Friday bringing a strong cold front our way. There appears to be some severe weather potential late Friday afternoon into the evening hours and I'll update you on that as we get closer in time. If you haven't purchased your Midland weather alert radio yet, stop by your nearest Walgreens to purchase one. ($29.99) If you want a model with more features, go to the Midland Radio web site. They have a higher price model (89.99) for those of you who can afford it.

This Wednesday Dr. Gray will come out with his latest predictions for the 2008 Hurricane Season. He told me last week that the numbers issued in December (13 named storms, 7 hurricanes, 3 Major) will likely be revised upwards. That doesn't concern me too much since the last two seasons were supposed to be "above average" and they weren't. As one of the Hurricane Specialists told me..." it's more than water temperatures and El Nino & La Nina. Wind shear appears to be the major player and it's hard to predict wind shear." Let's hope it's another season of wind shear for us.
