A cold front passed thru at 12:53 PM sweeping away the muggies and bringing much drier air back to SE Louisiana. With the higher sun angle, that dry air quickly heated up to 80 degrees at 3:16 PM making today the warmest since Nov. 16, 2009...128 days ago. The longest stretch of days sub 80 was 144 back in 2003 so we gave that record a run. Another front is coming for early on Sunday and the same thing could happen Sunday PM...dry air + lots of sun = 80 degrees.
For Friday, filtered sunshine along with north winds will make for cooler temperatures as highs will struggle to get out of the high 60s. Saturday will be warmer 70+ with some showers over night into early Sunday. The whole weekend looks to be OK withmild to warm temps and slim to none rain chances.
