8 days without rain and counting, but there are signs that we will break that streak this weekend. We are currently under a big upper ridge that will keep us dry thru Friday despite the fact low level moisture has increased. Perhaps you can feel the difference when you step outside? It's really noticeable at night when lows stay 70+ compared to the 50s of several days ago. Computer models are breaking down the ridge for this weekend and that should allow a front to get closer. A few stray showers could pop up Friday PM, but rain chances will be higher on Saturday and even higher Sunday into Monday. We have the potential for some significant rainfall and that's OK since we are 8 1/2+ inches below normal/average for the year.
We are working on our 2010 Hurricane Special. It will air Monday evening 7 pm on May 31st. It will follow Wheel of Fortune.

Were on day 9 without rain in the New Orleans area, and this isn't helping our 8 inch plus deficient we are in this for this year. The forecast looks muggy and very warm through Friday as Upper Ridging that has dominated the region for the past week and a half continues to dominate our area. Expect highs in the upper 80's to around 90 and lows in the 70's with puffy afternoon clouds in this time period.
On Saturday the upper ridging that has been stuck over us will finally begin to break down and flatten out. This will allow for our next rainmaker which is a weak cool front to crawl its way into our region. It will likely stall just to our north on Saturday but it will be close enough to bring back the chance for an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. This front will need an extra push to make it here and this will happen Saturday night when a weak long wave trough passes through the area. With the front expected to stall over our area, this will set stage for a wet Sunday and Monday. With more cloudiness and a chance of rain Saturday through Monday highs will be a bit lower with afternoon temperatures only expected to reach to the low to mid 80's, lows will be the same with temps. only dropping into the 70's at night-time.

I know we need rain, but it would be great if it holds off a bit longer. The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life will take place this weekend in Kenner and Destrehan.
OnlyReal, boy I bet that felt great to get a forecast under your belt. And thanks for your update. Yep I am one of those that look forward to Bob's blogs and your forecasts...I always though the things you love and enjoy doing are never a chore to do and are sorely missed when you can't do them.
Yes I was noticing the yard looking mighty dry and even had to add water to the pool. With it being warming it just seems to zap water out of the pool. I enjoy when Mother Nature fills it for me.
Looking forward to your upcoming Hurricane Special as we and the city get prepped for the Hurricane Season 2010....Hopefully we'll have a lot to talk about this summer...but not have to deal with any storm hitting our area. I know its almost contradictory isnt it.
Hey OnlyReal...best wishes on finishing up the school year...seems the last two weeks are the longest...this time shall pass.
