Could It Really Rain Again?

I'm watching some Showers & T-Storms developing along a weak cold front that will stagger across our state over night and during the day on Thursday. This is our best chance for rain in nearly 2 weeks. If it fizzles, I see no rain for the next 5-7 days as an upper high builds over the SE and a early summer heat wave develops. We could see 93-95 by Monday!

The local NWS office in Slidell ran their SLOSH model today to see what if a Cat. 1 Hurricane comes in June with the Miss. River so high. The model predicts a 1-2 foot rise at the Carrollton gage. Since we have 3-5 feet of "freeboard" (levee heights abover river levels), that should not be enough surge to overtop any levees. It will take most of June before the river falls below 15 feet. I'll feel much better once the river is below 12 feet.

I have another cruise booked Aug 27 from New Orleans to Cozumel. Let's keep our fingers crossed that I will not have any trouble getting there or back....
