Arctic Air Plunging Southward...

The coldest air of this non-Winter of 2012 is about to enter the northern states from the Great Lakes to the Northeast for this weekend. Right now it appears the eastern trough will not be deep enough to bring the core of the cold down to us. I remain uncomfortable forecasting out to the weeknd due to the countinuing SW upper flow that often can throw surprises to the computer models. Right now it appears we'll see a cold front arrive early on Wednesday followed by another front early on Saturday. Each front will be moisture starved and should force any rain to stay off the Louisiana coast thru the weekend. However, my confidence is not great saying this weekend's parades will be dry but chilly. Next week looks even more chaotic as the eastern trough lifts out and several upper disturbances approach. Yikes! Stay tuned!
