Spring officially begins next Tuesday, but folks up north are loving the early preview that had them outside in shorts & tank tops. Over 200 cities set new record highs with no signs of that changing through the weekend. Locally, we're not setting records but we are way too warm for March. The next 7 days will see daily highs 80+ with rain chances slim to none. That's great news for this weekend's parades, but bad news for gardeners trying to grow their new plants.
Looking out 10-14 days, there are signs that some of the bitter cold still lingering up in northern Canada will invade the lower 48. I wouldn't be surprised to see several late March snowstorms for folks enjoying the current heat wave. For us, once beyond March 20th, it is rare to see any freezing temps, although we have seen freezing temps in early April, especially on the North Shore. Stay tuned!
Early signs that an El Nino is developing which would be good news for a quieter hurricane season.
